Lahore, Government College University’s Urdu Department organized its first-ever Student Urdu Conference, providing a platform for MPhil students to present research on modern trends in Urdu language and literature. The event, held at GCU Lahore, featured discussions led by esteemed academics and highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering literary and cultural scholarship.
According to Government College University, the conference included presentations from 24 MPhil students who shared their theses, contributing to a deeper understanding of contemporary issues in Urdu literature. The event drew notable figures from the academic community, including Prof. Dr. Farukh-ul-Haq Noori, Dean of Minhaj University, and GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir spoke on the university’s holistic educational approach, which aims to develop the ethical, cultural, and creative skills of its students. She also announced a significant contribution of one million rupees from the son of renowned Urdu writer Anees Nagi, intended to support the establishment of a scholarship and a gold medal for students of the Urdu Department.
Prof. Dr. Farukh-ul-Haq Noori praised GCU for its dedication to academic and literary excellence, emphasizing the conference’s role in promoting scholarly activities among MPhil students.
