Islamabad, Nationwide protests and rallies were held across Pakistan, including in major cities such as Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, and Karachi, on the occasion of International Al-Quds Day. The demonstrations, organized by the Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh Jafaria (TNFJ) on Juma Al-Wadaa, the last Friday of Ramadan, called for United Nations action to implement the International Court of Justice’s decision against Israel.
According to Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh Jafaria, the day was marked to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine, and to denounce the brutalities of Zionism and India. Allama Agha Syed Hussain Maqdisi, head of TNFJ, highlighted the need for international organizations to take cognizance of the inhumane acts perpetrated in Gaza and the sufferings of Palestinian children. He pointed out the inaction and indifference towards Muslim affairs as the root causes of the issues faced by the Islamic world.
During the various gatherings, it was stressed that the true cause of the Islamic world’s problems lies with the Muslim rulers themselves, who have succumbed to global colonial powers. Speakers such as Allama Bisharat Emami and Allama Syed Shabia Al Hasan Kazmi called for unity within the Muslim community to combat disbelief in fundamental matters.
The TNFJ leadership emphasized that despite the ongoing turmoil and challenges, raising a voice for the oppressed remains not only an Islamic imperative but also a key requirement of human compassion, which has been largely ignored by Muslim leaders.
The protests witnessed a practical demonstration of Sunni-Shia unity and voiced a strong stance against any form of extremism or terrorism that threatens the peace and solidarity of the Islamic Ummah. The participants demanded immediate and joint action by the leaders of wealthy Islamic countries and those with military capabilities to confront Zionist aggression and support the people of Gaza.
The event also saw unanimous resolutions condemning terrorist activities in Pakistan, attacks on foreign engineers, and expressing solidarity with the Pakistani armed forces. Special prayers were offered for the end of sufferings in the Islamic world and for the security, stability, and development of Pakistan.
Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh Jafaria has called for a wake-up call to the OIC and other international forums, urging them to step up their efforts in addressing the crises facing the Muslim world today.
