Faisalabad, The National Textile University (NTU) Library in Faisalabad has unveiled its annual report for 2023, showcasing a year of significant growth and development in resources, memberships, and educational workshops. The library, a pivotal resource for textile engineering and allied disciplines, now boasts a collection of nearly 26,000 information resources and provides access to over 40,000 peer-reviewed electronic titles through the HEC National Digital Library Program. This year’s activities also included a series of workshops and training sessions aimed at enhancing digital marketing, research, and artificial intelligence skills among students and professionals.
According to National Textile University, the library has seen an expansion in its physical and digital collections, with the addition of 560 new titles, bringing the total to 25,769 books. It maintains subscriptions to 22 national and international journals in print and offers electronic access to a vast array of journals and databases, including those through memberships with the Association of Universities for Textiles (AUTEX) and the Textile Institute, Manchester, UK. The library also hosted several educational events throughout the year, such as workshops on digital marketing and Mendeley software, and facilitated visits from educational institutions to introduce students to higher education opportunities and library resources.
The library’s focus on digital accessibility and patron feedback highlights its commitment to serving the needs of its users, from extended hours for late-night study sessions to providing off-campus access to e-resources for enrolled students and faculty. Looking forward, the NTU Library aims to expand its digital resources, enhance outreach efforts to underserved populations, and foster collaborative partnerships with local organizations. Embracing emerging technologies and implementing green initiatives are also among its strategic goals to establish the library as a hub for innovation and lifelong learning.
