Muharram Observances Begin with Mourning Processions and Tributes to Imam Hussain

Rawalpindi: Monday marked the beginning of Muharram, a significant period of mourning for the Shia community, with numerous processions and gatherings held in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to honor the sacrifices of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his companions at Karbala.

According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the observances took place across various Imambargahs and mourning sites where participants paid homage through rituals and prayers. Allama Syed Qamarhid Zaidi addressed the mourners at the first gathering of the 10th of Muharram, emphasizing the profound impact of Imam Hussain’s sacrifice and his role as a leader in the fight for justice and righteousness. He highlighted that the principles exemplified at Karbala remain relevant, inspiring the oppressed to pursue justice and integrity.

The gatherings also served as platforms for promoting peace and unity among different sects, with leaders advocating for the mourning code set by the Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya as a means to ensure harmony and lasting peace in the region. The vast participation across the cities underscored the communal commitment to remembering and deriving lessons from Imam Hussain’s stand against tyranny.
