Sargodha: Mauritius High Commissioner Munsoo Kurrimbaccus visited the University of Sargodha on Monday to discuss potential collaborations aimed at enhancing higher education links between Pakistan and Mauritius. The discussions focused on establishing a joint international-standard university campus, developing joint degree programs, and promoting academic and research partnerships, alongside faculty and student exchange initiatives.

According to University of Sargodha, High Commissioner Kurrimbaccus met with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Abbas and Director of External Linkages Prof Dr Ejaz Asghar Bhatti during his visit. Dr Abbas highlighted the university's recent achievements, noting its placement among the top 10 universities in Pakistan for education and research. He emphasized the institution's commitment to preparing students for future challenges and creating programs connected to industry needs.

Mr Kurrimbaccus expressed his admiration for the University of Sargodha, noting its strong academic reputation, discipline, and infrastructure. He acknowledged the reforms and initiatives led by the vice chancellor and indicated Mauritius's interest in initiating research collaborations with the University of Sargodha and the University of Karachi. He mentioned that despite the presence of campuses from leading Western universities in Mauritius, there is a keen interest in forming a new academic partnership with UoS due to its academic performance.

The high commissioner also announced that the Mauritius minister of education would visit Pakistan soon to formalize a cooperation agreement with the University of Sargodha. During his visit, Mr Kurrimbaccus toured various academic and administrative departments of the university.
