LUMS Graduate Simrah Zafar Awarded Prestigious Chevening Scholarship to Attend Cambridge

Lahore: Simrah Zafar, a recent BSc Management Science graduate from the Suleman Dawood School of Business at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), has been awarded the Chevening Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year. She will continue her studies at the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, Zafar’s selection highlights her outstanding academic and professional achievements. She expressed her excitement and gratitude, noting that only 2% of applicants worldwide are chosen for this prestigious award. Zafar credits her success to the robust support system provided by her family, friends, and the LUMS community.

During her time at LUMS, Zafar was significantly influenced by the diverse academic environment and the strong support from faculty members like Dr. Muhammad Tayyab, Ms. Gulalai Khan, and Mr. Usama Waheed. A pivotal moment came from a guest lecture organized by Ms. Khan, featuring Ms. Tania Aidrus, which spurred Zafar’s interest in leveraging technology to address social challenges. Her experience working at Rayn, a tech company, further solidified her resolve and strengthened her scholarship application.

Reflecting on her educational journey, Zafar highlighted the critical thinking and problem-solving skills she developed at LUMS, which she believes are indispensable for her future success.
