Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi and Halqa-e-Arbab-e-Takhleeq jointly launched Khalid Mir’s new poetry collection, “Jise Tum Pyaar Karte Ho,” at Haseena Moin Hall. The event was presided over by literary figure Professor Sehar Ansari, with Tajdar Adil serving as the guest of honor.
According to a statement by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the ceremony included speeches from prominent personalities such as Tariq Jameel, Naseem Sheikh, Akhtar Saeedi, and Dr. Fahim Shinas Kazmi, and was moderated by Hamid Islam Khan. Professor Ansari expressed his satisfaction with the large attendance, describing the event as memorable. He lauded Khalid Mir’s ability to convey emotions through his poetry, highlighting its impact during challenging times.
Tajdar Adil emphasized the depth of Mir’s work, noting its reflection of truth and modernity. He remarked on the blend of serious thought and playful elements in Mir’s poetry, which he said appeals to contemporary audiences.
Dr. Fahim Shinas Kazmi praised Khalid Mir for offering fresh perspectives on love, appreciating the thought-provoking nature and rhythmic quality of his poetry. Naseem Sheikh described Mir as a “poet of the heart,” commending his ability to infuse life into poetry with a dance-like rhythm.
Tariq Jameel acknowledged the efforts of the Arts Council’s president, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, in organizing the event. He recognized Khalid Mir as a modern poet and a skilled writer of ghazals, sharing personal anecdotes from their student days.
Khalid Mir, known for his contributions to contemporary poetry, expressed gratitude to the event organizers and attendees. He humbly downplayed his role in the event’s success, reflecting on the liberating and enriching nature of love.
