KARACHI: Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakoor has called on Karachi’s Mayor, Barrister Murtza Wahab, to introduce a real-time complaint management dashboard system to address the growing civic issues in the city.
According to a statement by Pasban Democratic Party, the proposed system would allow residents to record complaints with details such as location tags, pictures, and video clips. This initiative aims to provide transparency, enabling complainants to track the status of their issues and identify the officials handling them.
Shakoor stressed the need for surveillance cameras at notorious traffic jam spots to tackle illegal parking and roadside encroachments. He pointed out that designated road spaces are often monopolized by vendors with alleged support from corrupt police and city officials. Surveillance cameras would help identify these offenders, facilitating the registration of complaints against them and potentially curbing ineffective anti-encroachment operations.
Emphasizing the role of technology, Shakoor suggested that artificial intelligence could significantly streamline the resolution of civic issues. He expressed concern over corrupt officials who might resist the implementation of such systems due to their vested interests in maintaining the status quo.
The dashboard could effectively identify and manage problems related to infrastructure, waste, and traffic. It would also provide real-time updates to the city’s leadership, allowing for more proactive governance and improved living conditions for Karachi’s residents.
Shakoor appealed to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to support the initiative, urging key provincial leaders to prioritize its implementation for the betterment of Karachi and Sindh province.
