Karachi Labor Unions to Rally for Workers’ Rights at Press Club

Karachi, Local labor groups, including the National Trade Union Federation and the Home-Based Women Workers Federation, have organized a rally to protest against the contract system in employment, advocating for legal protections, a minimum wage increase, and enhanced social security and pension benefits. The event is scheduled to take place at the Karachi Press Club on Sunday at 4:30 pm.

According to Home-Based Women Workers Federation, the rally aims to draw attention to the issues facing many workers under current employment practices, particularly the lack of legal protections against the prevalent illegal contracting system. The federations are also calling for a minimum wage of fifty thousand rupees and the extension of social security and pension benefits to all workers.

The labor groups have extended an invitation to media representatives to cover the rally, highlighting the importance of public awareness and support for their cause. The event underscores the ongoing struggles of workers in Karachi and across Pakistan to secure better labor rights and protections.
