Karachi Housing Scam: Pasban Democratic Party Demands Judicial Inquiry into Cooperative Societies Fraud

Karachi, Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakoor has asserted that scams in housing cooperative societies have resulted in the looting of poor allottees by a mafia, supported by corrupt government officials. This organized crime group is involved in multi-billion rupee frauds, involving illegal plot occupations and bogus cooperative society elections.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, the corrupt nexus within the Sindh government allows certain individuals to become registrars of cooperative societies by offering substantial bribes to politicians. These registrars, along with other officials, are accused of defrauding allottees and illegally taking over and selling their plots for billions of rupees. The corruption extends to the administrative appointments within these societies, where hired thugs are employed to forcibly take plots from rightful owners.

The recent verdict by the Sindh High Court, which led to the suspension of more than 70 societies’ registrars and the invalidation of a key administrative appointment, highlighted the gravity of the issue. The court’s decision supports the party’s call for a judicial commission to fully investigate these scams and ensure justice and protection for the victims. Altaf Shakoor welcomed the court’s decisive action and emphasized the need for immediate governmental intervention to curb this rampant corruption.
