Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi recently hosted a vibrant celebration of International Dance Day at Auditorium One, attracting a large gathering of dance enthusiasts. The event featured a variety of performances, highlighting classical, hip-hop, cultural, and filmi dance styles.
Notable attendees included Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council, who underscored dance’s therapeutic value in addressing modern-day depression. He praised renowned Kathak dancer Nighat Chaudhry for her exceptional performance and encouraged young artists to engage with the Arts Council’s cultural programs.
The event also showcased performances by the Arts Council Dance Academy and various dance groups. Mani Chao, Head of the Dance Academy, welcomed participants and emphasized the celebration of diverse languages and cultures. Abdul Ghani and his group delivered a dance reflecting Sindhi culture, which received enthusiastic applause.
President Shah announced an upcoming three-day Alumni Festival from May 9 to May 11, inviting widespread participation. The evening concluded with performances from faculty members and students of the Arts Council Dance Academy and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, leaving the audience in high spirits.
