Jamaat-e-Islami Leader Urges Major Parties to Resign Over Electoral Discrepancies

Karachi, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, called for the resignation of major political parties including the Nawaz League, People’s Party, and MQM from the government, alleging their participation in a fraudulent administration based on the contested Form 47 electoral results.

According to Jamaat-E-Islami Pakistan, Rahman articulated these demands during a press event at the Karachi Press Club. He stressed that for the supremacy of the constitution, the survival of democracy, and the alleviation of economic crises, it is essential for these parties to step down and for all institutions to revert to their constitutional roles. He advocated for the Chief Justice to intervene, the establishment of a High Judicial Commission, and the formation of a genuine representative government based on the original electoral Form 45 results.

During his address, Rahman criticized the current handling of various urban and economic issues in Karachi, pointing out the city’s contributions to the national treasury contrasted with its neglected infrastructure and public safety. He cited specific local grievances, including the high rates of armed robbery and deaths resulting from these incidents, advocating for the recruitment of local residents into the Karachi police to improve the situation.

Rahman also touched upon national issues, such as the artificial gas crisis he claimed was created by the government’s cessation of exploration and reliance on expensive imported LNG. He condemned foreign policy directions, particularly the lack of progress on the Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline, suggesting it was a failure to assert independence from American influence.

In terms of international issues, Rahman reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s strong positions on Kashmir and Palestine, criticizing the silence of Muslim leaders on these subjects and calling for Pakistan to advocate more vigorously for these causes on the international stage.

Looking ahead, Rahman announced plans for protests across Punjab on April 30 against the government-induced wheat crisis and declared that a major consultation with stakeholders would be held on May 1st to decide further actions.
