Bahawalpur: The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in collaboration with the University of Management and Technology Lahore, recently conducted a training workshop focused on the digital documentation of built heritage, aiming to integrate traditional architectural preservation methods with modern digital technologies.
According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, the workshop was inaugurated by Engineer Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Architect Ayaz Mehmood, Head of the Department of Architecture at Islamia University, emphasized the growing need to protect historical structures amid rapid urban development and technological advancements. The workshop highlighted the use of digital tools like 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and GIS technologies, providing both practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for effective heritage conservation.
The event featured several speakers and experts who discussed the complexities of digital documentation, sharing best practices and innovative approaches to preserving architectural heritage.
