Islamabad: The Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Masooma Sakina bint Al Hussain was marked with deep religious reverence in Islamabad, under the auspices of Tehreek Nifaz-e-Fiqah Jafaria (TNFJ). The day was also used as a platform to protest the arrest of TNFJ Federal Capital President Zulfiqar Ali Raja, with community leaders calling for his immediate release.
According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, thousands of mourners participated in a major procession that commenced from the residence of Hussain Shah, Raja Bashar T Hussain in Naval Anchorage, near Batli Ziarat. The procession was not only a religious observance but also a demonstration against the government’s restrictions on public gatherings and mourning processions, which the TNFJ views as an infringement on religious freedoms. The event featured speeches from various religious leaders, including Allama Syed Qamar Haiderzaidi, who praised Hazrat Sakina’s enduring legacy as a role model for oppressed children worldwide fighting for their rights in regions like Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir, and Palestine.
The assembly passed a resolution denouncing the unjust arrest of Zulfikar Ali Raja and criticizing government policies that restrict religious congregations and mourning processions. It called for governmental focus on combating banned organizations rather than imposing limitations on religious activities. The resolution emphasized the unity between Sunni and Shia communities as a force against any threats to Pakistan’s security and religious harmony.
