ISC2 Offers Cybersecurity Scholarships to Women Globally

Karachi, The Center for Cyber Safety and Education has opened applications for its Women’s Cybersecurity Scholarships, aimed at supporting women pursuing degrees in cybersecurity, information assurance, or related fields. The scholarship program, designed to encourage and assist women in this field, will offer up to ten scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each.

According to Pak NGOs, the awarded scholarships will be directly sent to the educational institutions of the recipients. The funds are designated for tuition, fees, books, and required materials, rather than being disbursed to the awardees themselves. Recipients must accept the award within three weeks of notification, failing which it will be allocated to another applicant. It’s important to note that these awards do not renew automatically; recipients are required to reapply each year to be considered for another award.

The eligibility criteria for the scholarship are comprehensive, ensuring a wide range of applicants can apply. Candidates must be pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, or a similar field in the fall of 2024. The scholarship is open to those pursuing associate, undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate degrees, with a minimum GPA requirement of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Notably, the scholarship is open to citizens of any country, not just the United States. Furthermore, applicants can be attending their courses either on campus or online, and either full-time or part-time, in the US or internationally. However, it’s mandatory for applicants to be enrolled in a college or university by the time the award is disbursed.

This scholarship initiative represents a significant step towards promoting gender diversity in the cybersecurity field, a sector where women are historically underrepresented. By providing financial assistance and encouragement to women entering this field, the Center for Cyber Safety and Education aims to foster a more inclusive and diverse cybersecurity workforce.
