Lahore: In a significant milestone, Isa Hospital Lahore celebrated six years of operation with a ceremony highlighting its commitment to offering no-cost medical services to the economically disadvantaged. Dr. Nadeem Ashraf, former moderator and chairman of Isa Hospital, emphasized the institution’s dedication to providing quality healthcare to those unable to afford it.
According to Indus Hospital and Health Network, Dr. Ashraf pointed out the urgent need for enhanced health facilities in rural areas. He noted that the current health budget, which is a mere 0.9% of the GDP, is insufficient. He argued that the bed availability in Pakistan is critically low, with less than one bed per 10,000 people, a figure significantly lower than the necessary 12-13 beds per 10,000 people. Dr. Ashraf stressed that Isa Hospital operates transparently and welcomes visits from the public to witness their operations firsthand.
The ceremony was attended by key figures including Dr. Makhdoom Pervez, President of Pharmacies Nishtar Town. The chief guest, Asghar Ali Shakir, praised Dr. Ashraf’s humanitarian efforts, describing him as a benefactor to the suffering humanity. The event underscored the collective call for increased financial allocations to the health sector to meet the growing needs of Pakistan’s rural population.
