IRI’s Seerah Workshop on Peacebuilding Concludes with Address by Minister Ahsan Iqbal

Lahore: A two-day workshop focused on the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and its implications for peacebuilding and social reconstruction concluded with an address by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal. The event was held at the Nisar Fatima Institute of Seerah and Women Studies and brought together scholars and policymakers to explore the relevance of Islamic teachings in contemporary governance.

Organized by the International Center of Excellence for Seerah Studies, Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the National Center for Seerah Studies, the workshop aimed to develop actionable recommendations for leadership, governance, and social justice.

Prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nizam Uddin, Mr. Ahmar Bilal Soofi, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younas Rana were among the notable guests, who emphasized the integration of Seerah teachings into legal, academic, and societal frameworks.

Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director General of IRI, outlined the workshop’s objectives, which included engaging over 40 university faculty members in thematic discussions to address modern challenges through the lens of Seerah.

The minister’s keynote highlighted the government’s commitment to incorporating Seerah-based recommendations into future policy frameworks, reaffirming support for Islamic scholarship and academic initiatives.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Sahibzada Qamar ul Haq, recognizing the workshop’s impact on promoting intellectual and moral discourse based on Seerah teachings in Pakistan.
