Karachi, The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) recently hosted the Second International Conference on Education (ICE) 2023, focusing on the theme “The Changing Education Landscape” and the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4) on Quality Education. The conference brought together a diverse group of thought leaders to discuss the evolving dynamics of education in the context of global challenges and opportunities.
According to Institute of Business Management, the conference was graced by Ms. Rana Hussain, the Interim Education Minister of Sindh, as the Chief Guest. The event was patronized by Mr. Talib S. Karim, President of IoBM. Keynote speakers included Professor Stefan Krummaker from Queen Mary University of London and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar from the International Islamic University, Islamabad. Their insights, along with contributions from other speakers, fostered a rich dialogue on redefining education as a catalyst for societal development in Pakistan.
Ms. Hussain, in her address, emphasized the significance of collaboration with educational institutions to achieve inclusive quality education. She highlighted the necessity of adapting to the changing labor market, driven by digitalization, automation, and globalization, and underscored the importance of communication skills, retraining, and upskilling. She also stressed the role of strong, autonomous universities as strategic partners in promoting SDGs.
Dr. Tariq Soomro, Acting Rector of IoBM, noted the relevance of the conference theme, acknowledging the importance of graduate acceptance as a measure of educational quality. The conference served as a crucial platform for representatives from public and private institutions to engage in insightful discussions and collaborative efforts.
The event aimed to explore collaborative solutions and innovative approaches to educational challenges, bringing together diverse perspectives to reshape the educational landscape in Pakistan. ICE 2023, organized by IoBM’s Department of Education under the leadership of Dr. Sarwat Nauman, Head of the Department, was not just a conference but a collective exploration of possibilities and an incubator for groundbreaking ideas.
