Institute of Applied Psychology at Punjab University Addresses Youth Depression and Suicide on World Mental Health Day

Lahore, 14 Oct 2023: On World Mental Health Day, the Institute of Applied Psychology at the University of the Punjab organized a seminar addressing the pertinent topic of “Depression and Suicide Among Youth.” The event, centered around insights and guidance for the well-being of young individuals, was led by Dr. Iram Zehra Bokharey, a clinical psychologist with 35 years of experience.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the pressing psychological challenges that today’s youth face, with Dr. Iram delivering invaluable guidance on clinical management approaches beneficial for both the affected youth and their caregivers. A segment of the event was dedicated to an interactive Q and A session, providing an opportunity for faculty members and students to clarify and delve deeper into the topic.

In recognition of her significant contributions, Prof. Dr. Saima Ghazal, the Acting Director of IAP, along with faculty members Dr. Fatima Kamran, Dr. Affifa Anjum, and Dr. Omama Tariq, presented Dr. Iram with a bouquet as a gesture of gratitude. The seminar underscored the importance of fostering a healthy and supportive environment to enhance the psychological well-being of young individuals.
