Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023: Kicking off on October 18th at the male campus, the Annual Sports Gala of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is poised to showcase the athletic talents of approximately 1000 male students, participating from 11 faculties of the university. The event, conducted by the sports section of the Directorate of Students’ Affairs under the directives of the President IIUI, aims to spotlight a variety of sports competitions including cricket, football, table tennis, and chess, among others, offering students a platform to demonstrate their skills in a competitive setting, according to a press release from IIUI.
This eagerly awaited event, starting at 9:30 am at the hardball cricket ground, will open with a ceremony that will be graced by high-profile guests, including the President of IIUI. With a rich array of competitions such as tug of war, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, chess, and various athletic competitions, the sports gala is expected to be an encompassing representation of the multifaceted athletic talent embedded within the university’s student body.
A meeting to finalize the gala’s arrangements was recently held at the university’s new campus, chaired by Students Advisor Dr. Ghufran Ahmed, and attended by faculty representatives, focal persons for competitions, and other relevant officials. The attendees concurred that the sports gala holds the promise of becoming a historically significant, memorable, and exquisite mega-event, intending to provide valuable opportunities for students to showcase and potentially discover new athletic talents while engaging in healthy competition.
