IIUI Forms Academic Partnership with NingboTech University in Media Studies

Islamabad: In a significant stride toward international academic collaboration, the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and NingboTech University, China, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance exchange and research in media and communication studies.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the MOU, signed at IIUI’s new campus, sets forth plans for student and faculty exchanges, joint training, and collaborative research projects between IIUI’s Department of Media & Communication Studies and NingboTech’s Department of Journalism and Communication. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal from IIUI and Professor Wang Junwei representing NingboTech University.

The ceremony, witnessed by IIUI Acting President Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar and other academic dignitaries, highlighted the commitment of both institutions to develop educational and scientific research capabilities through shared resources and expertise. Prof. Sarwar remarked on the potential for enhanced bilateral educational cooperation and the growth of IIUI’s international community, particularly its Chinese student base.

Professor Wang Junwei noted the strong educational ties between China and Pakistan, expressing optimism that the new agreement would enrich media studies through shared experiences and result-oriented research. He emphasized the importance of the partnership in fostering innovative academic practices and advancing the field.

Further detailing the scope of the MOU, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal addressed the visiting delegation from NingboTech, discussing potential research synergies, especially in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stressed the importance of exploring the anthropological impacts of CPEC, an area he believes will benefit significantly from this international collaboration.

The event also featured contributions from faculty members of IIUI, including Dr. Qurat Ul Ain and Dr. Sayed Inam Ur Rehman, who shared their insights on the importance of this partnership in facilitating impactful media research and education.
