IIUI and NingboTech University Forge New Academic Partnership with MOU Signing


Islamabad: In a significant development for academic cooperation, the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), through its Department of Media & Communication Studies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NingboTech University’s Department of Journalism and Communication, enhancing the educational ties between Pakistan and China.



According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the MOU was signed at IIUI’s new campus with notable figures such as Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Acting President of IIUI, and Professor Wang Junwei, Vice Dean of NingboTech’s School of Media and Law, in attendance. The agreement focuses on facilitating student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and shared educational resources in the field of Media and Communication.



Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership, noting that IIUI hosts a significant number of Chinese students and that the collaboration will bolster research efforts in the social sciences. He emphasized the potential for new research avenues and academic growth stemming from this international cooperation.



Professor Wang Junwei remarked on the strong educational ties between China and Pakistan, underscoring the opportunities to enhance these through faculty exchanges and joint research initiatives. He expressed confidence that the MOU would lead to substantial contributions in media and communication studies, leveraging shared expertise and resources.



Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal provided insights into the Faculty of Social Sciences at IIUI and discussed ongoing research, including studies on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He expressed hope that the collaboration would yield impactful recommendations for education policies and a deeper understanding of CPEC’s anthropological aspects.



The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Qurat Ul Ain, Assistant Professor and Chairperson of DMCS, among other faculty members from IIUI, marking a commitment to deepening academic and cultural exchange between the two institutions.
