Islamabad: Eleven internationally recognized scientists gathered at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) for the “1st International Symposium on Recent Advances in Chemistry”, organized by the Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology.
The symposium featured keynote addresses from leading researchers, including Nobel Prize nominee Dr. Thomas J. Webster from Hebei University of Technology, China, and Dr. Muhammad Farooq Wahab from the University of Texas at Arlington, USA. Other notable speakers included Dr. Sarah Haris from the University of Sheffield, UK, Dr. Melita Menlaou and Mr. Christoss Panagiotou from Cyprus University of Technology, and Dr. Jamshed Hashim from KFU University, Austria.
Experts from across the globe, including Dr. Ajmal Khan from the University of Nizwa, Oman, Dr. Emmanuel N. Koukaras from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, University of Karachi, Pakistan, also shared their expertise. The international roster was completed by Dr. Zaid G. Mohammadsalih from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq, and Dr. Fernando Bacega from the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The opening ceremony was led by Dr. Ghayoor Abbass Chotana, Head of Department at LUMS, while Dr. Shazma Azeem, Head of Department at FCCU, concluded the event with a discussion on current research directions. The meeting attracted a diverse audience of faculty, students, industry representatives, and scholars, showcasing UCP’s dedication to international partnerships, groundbreaking discoveries, and high-quality research.
