Fulbright Foreign Student Program Offers Opportunities for Pakistani Students in the USA

Islamabad, The Fulbright Foreign Student Program, funded by the United States Department of State, is offering Pakistani graduate students, young professionals, and artists the opportunity to study and conduct research in the United States. The program covers a range of academic disciplines and provides significant financial support.

According to Comsats University Islamabad, the Fulbright program aims to enable participants from Pakistan to engage in graduate study at U.S. universities or other academic institutions. The grants, covering both Master’s and PhD levels, include tuition, airfare, a living stipend, health insurance, and required textbooks. The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) assists with the visa process as well.

Fulbright encourages applications from all fields, including interdisciplinary areas, with a particular emphasis on sectors such as energy, water, agriculture, health, education, environment, and climate change. The program is particularly keen on applicants who demonstrate a strong academic history, reside in Pakistan throughout the application process, and are committed to returning to serve Pakistan.

Eligibility criteria include a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a combination of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (16 years of formal education) for Master’s applicants. PhD applicants should have a Master’s, M.Phil. Or a comparable degree (18 years of formal education). The program advises applicants to be prepared to complete their grants without accompanying dependents if necessary.

Application requirements include a completed online application form, three reference letters, a GRE score report, and scanned transcripts. Applicants are encouraged to submit Higher Education Commission (HEC)-attested documents, though those attested by the issuing authority will be accepted at the time of application.
