Islamabad, Syed Madad Ali Sindhi, Pakistan’s Education Minister, has emphasized the importance of promoting the Arabic language, describing it as a significant asset for Muslims. His remarks came during a conference organized by the Faculty of Arabic at the International Islamic University (IIU) on the topic of “Role of Institutions and Individuals in Reviving the Arabic Language.”
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, Minister Sindhi lauded the IIU’s role in Arabic language promotion, noting the contribution of teachers from various countries, including Egypt, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia. He advocated for the expansion of institutions like IIU in society and encouraged other universities to adopt IIUI’s educational approach.
The Minister also highlighted that serving the Arabic language is a form of worship. He stressed the critical role of education in development, asserting that prioritizing education is the key to progress. The conference also featured H.E. Muhammad Mutahar Al-Ashbi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen, who emphasized Arabic as the language of the Quran and called for steps to enhance its promotion.
Acting President of IIUI, Dr. Abdul Raheman, underscored the significance of the Arabic language in economic and academic development. He informed the attendees about IIUI’s dedicated efforts in promoting Arabic, including compulsory courses on Quran comprehension and functional Arabic.
Dr. Fazal ullah, Dean of the Faculty of Arabic, proposed making Arabic a compulsory subject at the primary level and incorporating it into higher education curriculums. He also outlined the aims and objectives of the conference. The event included speeches by Dr. Habib-ur-Rahman Asim and other Arabic language researchers and experts.
