Karachi, Prof. Dr. Mujeebuddin Sahrai Memon has been reappointed as the Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) in Karachi for another four-year term, commencing on August 13, 2024. This decision was made by the Chief Minister of Sindh, exercising his authority over public sector universities in the province.
According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Government of Sindh, Noor Ahmed Samoo, the reappointment follows Dr. Sahrai’s notable accomplishments during his first tenure at SMIU, which began on August 17, 2020. Under his leadership, the university significantly increased its resource contribution and reduced its budget deficit, while expanding educational and infrastructural developments. New academic programs were launched, and SMIU’s research profile and international collaborations were strengthened, leading to recognition in global rankings.
