Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui Urges Prayers for Aafia Siddiqui Amid Her Imprisonment Challenges

Karachi, Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement and a renowned neurophysician, has made a heartfelt plea to pilgrims observing I’tikaf to pray for her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. This call for support comes amid Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s prolonged and harsh imprisonment conditions, marking 21 years of confinement.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui’s statement coincided with the commencement of the I’tikaf, a period of retreat and prayer in the last ten days of Ramadan, observed by millions worldwide. She congratulated those embarking on I’tikaf and called on them to include prayers for the early release and safe return of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, referring to her as the “oppressed daughter of the Muslim Ummah.”

Dr. Fawzia highlighted the severe circumstances of Dr. Aafia’s incarceration in FMC Carswell Jail, detailing her subjection to mental, physical, and alleged sexual abuse. She emphasized the broader context of injustice faced by Muslims globally, advocating for prayers during the sacred nights of Ramadan not only for Dr. Aafia but also for all innocent prisoners, for the people of Palestine, and for peace and protection in the Islamic world and Pakistan.
