Conference at GC University Lahore Amplifies Innovative Biological and Public Health Research

Lahore, 13 Oct 2023: The 5th International Conference on Innovative Biological and Public Health Research (IBPHR-23) was held recently at Government College University Lahore, serving as a crucial platform for research dissemination and scientific collaboration in the realm of Allied Medical Sciences, according to a press release from GC University Lahore. Engaging over 34 universities and Institutes from the Higher Education Department, the conference showcased the significant work of national and international speakers, and celebrated contributions to public health research from seasoned and emerging scientists.

Hosted by the Department of Zoology, the IBPHR-23 conference was not only a beacon of knowledge sharing but also emphasized the vitality of fostering a robust research culture and facilitating collaborative endeavours in the scientific community. Vice-Chancellor of GC University Lahore, Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi, articulated appreciation for young researchers and underscored the pivotal role they play in contributing to public health during his speech. Despite hurdles such as constrained resources and suboptimal compensation, Dr. Zaidi noted a commendable surge in high-quality research.

Expressing his esteem, the Chief Guest and Vice-Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, acknowledged the profound impact scientific conferences like IBPHR-23 have on advancing research and mitigating patient burdens in Allied Medical Sciences. During the conference, accolades were bestowed upon individuals to honour their remarkable contributions to the field, with recognitions such as the “Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gold Medal,” “Dr. Nusrat Jahan Gold Medal,” and “Sabira Shafi Gold Medal.”

The conference navigated through various pertinent topics via panel discussions and expert lectures. One such discussion, moderated by Prof. Dr. Asghar Ziadi, revolved around the present status, challenges, and future trajectory of Biological Research and Public Health in Pakistan, pinpointing the need for university collaborations and enhancing research facilities. This discourse also highlighted the importance of translating foundational research into clinical applications and establishing incentives for extraordinary researchers.

Through several sessions, attendees were enlightened by expert lectures spanning a multitude of subjects, such as the application of herbs in treating bone diseases, the significance of data quality in scientific research, and insights into multiple scientific domains like entomology, microbiology, genetics, paleontology, wildlife, biodiversity, molecular biology, and biotechnology.

The latter part of the conference delved into the health benefits of the split gill mushroom and explored themes encompassing tropic interactions in agro-ecosystems, public health, fisheries and aquaculture, physiology, and phytomedicine.

In closing, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir, Chairperson of the Department of Zoology, extended a warm vote of thanks to the organizing team of IBPHR-23 and acknowledged their efforts in ensuring the seamless execution of the conference, followed by a distribution of certificates to organizing committee members.
