Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Raja Jahangir Anwar visited IUB on the occasion of 75th Independence Day

Bahawalpur, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Raja Jahangir Anwar has said that freedom is a blessing and Pakistan is God’s gift. As common citizens we all can play our role for the development and wellbeing of this country. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a great asset of the region which plays a key role in the educational development of the region. Commissioner Bahawalpur expressed these views while addressing a seminar in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur today in connection with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence.

During his visit, he also visited the Central Admission Office along with Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. On this occasion, a special national song prepared by the students of the university was also launched by the Nazria-i-Pakistan Society Directorate of Students Affairs. Raja Jahangir Anwar while addressing the teachers and students said that we should have positive and optimistic thoughts for Pakistan and work for a bright future. As a common citizen we can do things that have far-reaching consequences.

Common people can actively participate in the development of the country through high moral values, cleanliness and sanitation and plantation. He said that efforts are being made to spread disappointment regarding the dear motherland Pakistan, while the reality is that Pakistan’s 75 years of achievements are more. We as a nation have achieved many things in 75 years and today’s Pakistan is one of the most important countries in the world. He said that Bahawalpur division is located in the center of Pakistan and 52% of the country’s cotton, 17% of wheat, and 28% of sugarcane are produced in Bahawalpur.

He said that with the cooperation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and common citizens, 34 million trees will be planted and the temperature of Bahawalpur will be reduced by 2 degrees. He said that under the leadership of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the university is developing in a vigorous manner and the district administration is getting full support of the university in the beautification of the city and other important issues.

Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Law, Chairman Department of Pakistan Studies Prof. Dr. Aftab Hussain Gillani, Chairman Department of Political Science, Prof. Dr. Maswar Hussain Bukhari, Dr. Sarfraz Batol and Naseer Ahmad Nasir also addressed. Earlier, Commissioner Bahawalpur along with the Vice Chancellor reviewed the central admission campaign and discussed with the students who got admission in the first merit list.

He appreciated the state-of-the-art admission portal and one-window admission among other facilities. On this occasion, Director IT Rizwan Majeed said that due to the excellent admission facilities, the number of male and female students in Islamia University Bahawalpur has increased from 13 thousand to 57 thousand and 15 to 17 thousand new admissions will be provided in the recent admission campaign.
