London, Chatham House has announced the opening of applications for the Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship, inviting mid-career professionals from around the world to partake in a dynamic ten-month program starting October 2024. The fellowship aims to develop leadership skills and advance research in international affairs.

According to Pak NGOs, the fellowship, a collaboration with Richard and Susan Hayden, is designed for individuals in the early to mid-stages of their careers in sectors such as academia, NGOs, business, government, civil society, or media. It provides an opportunity to engage deeply with Chatham House’s research activities while working on a personal project with the guidance of an expert from the institute.

The program is structured around three main components: personal research projects, a leadership program, and contributions to ongoing research activities at Chatham House. Fellows will spend approximately 60% of their time on their research projects, 20% on leadership development, and the remaining 20% contributing to Chatham House’s research missions.

Participants will also benefit from a comprehensive leadership program, which includes workshops, personal development coaching, media training, and breakfast briefings with global leaders. This program not only enhances their research and analytical skills but also prepares them for significant leadership roles in their respective fields.

Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of £2,365 to cover living costs in London, along with other benefits such as relocation support, payment of the UK’s Immigration Healthcare Surcharge, and various professional development opportunities.

The fellowship is open to applicants of all nationalities who possess at least a BA degree or equivalent, along with relevant professional experience. Chatham House encourages applicants with a strong interest in international affairs and the institute’s research agenda to apply by June 4, 2024.

Rawalpindi, A significant Sunni conference is scheduled for May 18 at the Sports Ground in Kallar Siddan, announced by Allama Riaz-ur-Rehman Siddiqui, the General Secretary of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek’s Rawalpindi District. The day will be observed as a pledge renewal day across Pakistan, emphasizing the continuation of the mission to protect Islamic values and national ideology.

According to Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, the events are set to reaffirm commitment to the protection of the Prophet Muhammad’s honor, the belief in the finality of prophethood, and the preservation of Pakistan’s ideological foundation under the leadership of Muhammad Shadab Raza Naqshbandi. Karachi, Amid rising concerns over escalating crime rates, Tariq Chandiwala, the Chief Organizer of the Pasban Democratic Party in Karachi, voiced grave concerns about the detrimental impact of unchecked criminal activities on society. The speakers outlined the GFA’s utility as a tool for fostering robust industrial relations between multinational organizations such as Inditex and IndustriALL Global Union and their respective suppliers and local affiliates. Through negotiation and dialogue, the GFA aims to ensure respect for human rights and labor standards, emphasizing the importance of freedom of association and collective bargaining. The session also addressed specific challenges and opportunities in Pakistan, advocating for open communication and trust-building between local affiliates and Inditex representatives to effectively implement the GFA.

The purpose of the GFA, as detailed by the speakers, is to strengthen human rights within the supply chain, promote cooperation, and place the worker at the center of all initiatives, thereby enhancing mutual interests and industrial relationships.
