Karachi, On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of the revered freedom fighter Soriah Badshah Pir Sabghatullah Shah Rashdi, the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor criticized the government’s neglect in commemorating the leader’s legacy. Despite public commemorations held by PDP and other groups, the government’s failure to acknowledge the date or the contributions of Soriah Badshah sparked concerns over its historical awareness and respect.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Chairman Shakoor expressed disappointment over the lack of official recognition for Soriah Badshah, who played a crucial role in resisting British imperialism. He noted the organized remembrances in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Tando Adam, contrasting these community efforts with the government’s inaction. Shakoor proposed several measures to honor Soriah Badshah, including renaming Dow Medical College, reviewing his case in the Supreme Court akin to the Bhutto case, and establishing an official holiday on his martyrdom anniversary.
Shakoor also linked the historical struggle of Soriah Badshah with contemporary challenges, emphasizing the need to combat economic dependence and avoid further debts, particularly from institutions like the IMF. He called on the Chief of Army Staff, Gen Syed Asim Munir, to establish a national body to address the country’s financial constraints urgently, drawing inspiration from historical figures like Soriah Badshah to guide current and future policies.
