Lahore: The Lahore Region Boxing Talent Hunt kicked off at Government College University (GCU) Lahore with much fanfare as the trophy was unveiled alongside an exhilarating exhibition bout. This event is being organized in partnership with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and the Higher Education Commission.
Rizwan Anwar, serving as the Special Representative to the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, graced the event as the chief guest and was received by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry. The occasion was also attended by Additional Registrar Dr. Shoukat Ali, Chairman Sports Board Yasir Sultan, and Director Sports Muhammad Waseem Akhtar.
Prof. Dr. Omer Chaudhry lauded the effort, emphasizing that such ventures not only engage the younger generation in constructive activities but also provide a platform to display their skills on a broader stage. During the ceremony, Dr. Shoukat Ali highlighted the consistent achievements of GCU students in both academic and athletic arenas.
Rizwan Anwar shared that trials for twelve different sports have been organized across the country, and the launch of the Prime Minister’s Digital Hub aims to open new career pathways for students. Boxing trials have already been held in Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Sialkot, with the boxing league set to commence on October 6. This league is envisioned to cultivate talent and foster a sporting culture among the youth.
