Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Reaffirms Commitment to Education and Healthcare in Sindh

LARKANA: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, reiterated his commitment to establishing world-class educational and healthcare institutions across Sindh during a convocation ceremony at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) in Larkana. Addressing healthcare professionals, he emphasized the importance of aligning with the Sindh government’s public health initiatives to ensure citizens’ rights to life and dignity.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, joined by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of SMBBMU. He stated that the university stands as a testament to the courage and compassion envisioned by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He urged graduates to remain connected to their communities and commended the university staff for their role in shaping future medical professionals.

Highlighting the progress made since the 18th Constitutional Amendment, he noted the significant investments in Sindh’s healthcare sector. He praised the transformation of the NICVD hospital into a global cardiac care example and discussed the expansion of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) across the province. He emphasized the establishment of paediatric care facilities in multiple districts, facilitated through public-private partnerships.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed educational advancements in Sindh, pointing out the increase in universities from 16 in 2008 to 30 today. He criticized the federal government’s funding cuts to the Higher Education Commission and highlighted Sindh’s efforts to support its universities. The goal, he stated, is to ensure that every district in Sindh has access to higher education institutions, fostering opportunities for youth in remote areas.

Throughout his address, he acknowledged the contributions of former Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in establishing modern healthcare facilities and reiterated the provincial government’s resolve to continue developing high-quality institutions across Sindh.
