Karachi, In a spirited appeal to the residents of Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), committed to revolutionizing the city through dedicated public service and development initiatives should he receive their support in the upcoming February 8 elections. During a grand rally that wound through the heart of Karachi, Zardari emphasized his deep-rooted connection to the city and his vision for its future, distancing himself from the politics of division and hatred espoused by other parties.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Zardari’s campaign trail, dubbed ‘Quaid’s City’ rally, embarked from Bilawal House Chowrangi and navigated through key areas including Shirin Jinnah Colony, Kemari, and Lyari, before setting its course towards Malir, with its culmination at Dawood Chowrangi. The PPP chairman highlighted his birthright and the legacy of his mother, Benazir Bhutto, in Karachi as the foundation of his commitment to the city’s welfare.
Zardari lauded the people of Karachi for electing a PPP mayor in the recent local body elections, showcasing the trust and hope the city places in his party. He urged Karachiites to continue this support, promising an unprecedented opportunity for comprehensive governance at local, provincial, and potentially federal levels, if the PPP emerges victorious.
The PPP chairman differentiated his party’s mission of serving the people from other parties’ self-interest-driven politics, presenting the upcoming general elections as a critical choice between the PPP’s vision of unity and progress and the divisive tactics of its opponents. Zardari specifically criticized those attempting to fragment Karachi along lines of religion, language, and communalism, calling for a unified stand against such divisive forces.
Highlighting the contrast between the PPP and its main competitors, Zardari asked Karachi’s residents to decisively reject the politics of hatred and division, and not to dilute their votes by supporting independent candidates. He portrayed this election as a pivotal moment for Karachi to choose development and problem-solving over continued neglect.
In a direct plea, Zardari sought a chance to prove his commitment to Karachi’s development, reminding the electorate of past injustices in vote theft but assuring them of a new era of transparency and accountability with the PPP at the helm. He concluded his rally by seeking an oath from PPP candidates to serve the people of Karachi without discrimination, ensuring a future marked by equality and progress.
