According to the latest ranking of T.H.E, IUB has improved from 1001-1200 to the position of 801-1000 worldwide

Bahawalpur, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):In the 2023 ranking of Times Higher Education, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has achieved the first position in Pakistan in the citations category. Overall, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has secured second position in Punjab and the seventh position among public sector universities in Pakistan.

According to the latest ranking of Times Higher Education the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has improved from 1001-1200 to the position of 801-1000 worldwide. 53 universities across Pakistan including the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have been included in the ranking of global universities for the year 2023 released by Times Higher Education.

The most important achievement is the first position across Pakistan in the citations category. This is a proof of the clear superiority of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the field of research. It is worth mentioning that in the last three years, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been participating in the global ranking.

According to the Times Higher Education ranking of 2023, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur scored 12.1 points in the research category, 37.1 points in industrial income, and 62.9 points in citations and 43.2 points in international outlook. Education circles, teachers and students, have paid tribute to the leadership of Vice Chancellor Engr.

Corps Commander Balochistan, Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor visits University of Turbat

Turbat, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Corps Commander Balochistan, Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor along with the Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps (FC) South, Major General Kamal Anwar Chaudhry visited the University of Turbat (UoT) on 10th October 2022.

On the arrival at Turbat University, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Jan Muhammad, and the Principal of Makran Medical College Dr. Muhammad Afzal welcomed the commander. Corps Commander Balochistan had an interactive session with the students and faculty members of the University of Turbat and Makran Medical College.

Speaking on the occasion, Commander 12 Corps, Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor said that youth is an invaluable asset of the country. He urged the students to play a positive role in national unity and its development as they were the future leaders of our country.

Moreover, he underscored the fact that the educated youth played an important role in the progress of the country, and the youth of Balochistan, especially the youth of Makran Division, was very talented and hardworking and they must spend their energy on the acquisition of education and that the Youth should take advantage of the opportunities available for their education.

On a sanguine note, he highlighted some of the major developmental milestones that the country has achieved. Both the federal and provincial governments have done a lot of work for the people.

Commander 12 Corps emphasized that the role of the students was to strengthen and brighten the future of our great nation by focusing on education which leads to success. On the occasion, students freely discussed their education, the problems of Balochistan, the security situation, and their grievances.

Furthermore, Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Asif Ghafoor assured the students that all possible support will be provided in the construction and development of the university and medical college. The event was emceed by Dr. Shah Mir Baloch, Director of Student Affairs UoT. At the end of the session, the vice chancellor presented commemorative souvenirs to the Corps Commander and IGFC (South).

Guest(s) must come with graduates and carry their original CNIC/B-Form/Passport and guest pass.

No change in guests will be made after Commencement registration deadline.

Rehearsal:

Rehearsal for commencement will be on Friday, 25th November 2022, 3:00 P.M in the Sinclair Hall, and is mandatory to attend for collecting your commencement registration and guest card.

Academic Gowns:

The fee for the gown is Rs 3,000/-. You will get Rs 2,500/- when you return the gown. Do not deposit the fee in Bank. You will pay the vendor directly, in cash. You may collect the gowns from in front of Sinclair Hall. The gowns will be available from:

November 21st – 24th (3pm – 6pm)

November 25th (3pm – 7pm)

November 26th (2pm till one hour after the ceremony)

Commencement:

Saturday, 26th November 2022, 3:00 P.M., FCCU Main Ground.

World Mental Health Day Observed in Webinar 

Lahore, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Office of Human Resources organised the first-of-its-kind webinar to commemorate World Mental Health Day, observed every year on October 10. The theme for 2022 was “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”.

Guest speakers included Dr. Sarah Alam, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at Tibbi, Ms. Sophiya Anjum from Office of the Dean at Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Ms. Ayesha Zafar Sehgol, Inclusion Specialist at Office of Accessibility and Inclusion, LUMS.

The webinar started off with a welcome note and introduction of the session by Ms. Aymen Abdullah from the HR team, followed by Dr. Alam who spoke about signs and red flags that can help us identify mental health issues in ourselves.

She also highlighted details of the mental health service provided by LUMS through Tibbi and encouraged people to take benefit from it. The HR team then took interactive polls on the happiness of participants, connecting the dots between assessing our own well-being and conscious living.

Ms. Anjum then explained, ‘Mindfulness’ and the ‘Time travelling mind’ that tends to worry about the past or the future instead of living and benefiting from the moment. She also shared techniques and tips for mindful living.

This was followed by Ms. Sehgol who talked about cultivating a workplace that supports mental well-being by being more inclusive, recognising biases, and removing barriers. Ayesha also spoke of the importance that a value-based culture in creating an inclusive workplace where connections are valued.

This interactive webinar comprised polls and word clouds which encouraged participants to speak up, share their views anonymously and contribute via comments. The session concluded with an overwhelmingly positive response from the participants and requests for regular sessions where colleagues can engage with each other on important topics.

Rabita-e-Alam-e-Islami delegation calls on CM Punjab Ch Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation led by Secretary-General Rabita-e-Alam-e-Islami Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Essa met with Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office where it was accorded a warm welcome by the CM on Wednesday.

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Nawaf Bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Maliki, Abdul Rahman Khalil Al-Khadidi, Abdul Wahab Muhammad Abdul Aziz Al-Shahri, Khalid Mufarah Al-Watiyabi, Muhammad Saeed Al-Ghamdi, Saeed Al-Harthi and others were included in the delegation.

Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Essa and others thanked CM Parvez Elahi for the wonderful welcome and hospitality in Punjab. Shaikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Essa appreciated the services of Chief Minister Parvez Elahi concerning religion and stated that he has taken a historic step by enacting legislation to make the oath of the Finality of Prophethood (ﷺ) mandatory in the marriage certificate.

The auspicious steps taken by the Punjab government regarding religion are commendable, he added. You have done great work regarding the religion of Islam and Allah Ta’ala will reward you for this good work. We appreciate your special interest in religious services.

Our full cooperation is with you and will remain so, he further said. The CM said that the relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are exemplary. Every Pakistani considers Saudi Arabia as their second home and our hearts beat together; he said and noted that Saudi Arabia has stood by Pakistan in every hour of the trial.

Even during the recent floods, every Pakistani appreciates the assistance provided by the Saudi government and Saudi brothers. We are grateful to the people of Saudi Arabia on behalf of the government of Punjab and the people, he added. The chief minister said that Allah Ta’ala has enabled him to establish the Quran Board and Sira’t Academy.

The government has added a clause related to the Finality of Prophethood (ﷺ) in the marriage certificate; he stated and mentioned that at the time of marriage, it is, now, mandatory to take the oath of Finality of Prophethood (ﷺ). Thanks to this, the future of our girls is safe and no girl and her family will be cheated on in the future.

The CM said that ulema of all schools of thought have been given representation in the Ulema Board. With the consultation of ulema and religious scholars, the publication and sale of books and materials, based on religious hatred, have been banned in the province and all controversial literature has been confiscated.

The government has also made legislation in this regard, he added. Allah allowed making the Nazra Quran and its translation mandatory for the students in schools. Frames of Quranic verses have been displayed in all government offices of Punjab.

In the building of the Punjab assembly, the verses about the Finality of Prophethood (ﷺ) are shining beautifully. He noted that the Rabita-e-Alam-e-Islami was making great efforts to promote interfaith harmony. The government would continue to serve the religion, he concluded.

Data driven governance and digital transformation keys to bright future: Participants 

Islamabad, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Participants of the 7th International Applied Business Research Conference (IABRC) commenced at International Islamic University (IIU) agreed that initiatives to increase export, data driven governance and digital transformation are the keys to a bright future for the country.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Management Sciences of IIUI. In the conference, policy makers, industrial experts and research scholars are participating to share thoughts and experiences on the themes of finance, technology management, entrepreneurship, management and marketing in the light of digital transformation and other contemporary advancements and needs of the field. A number of renowned personalities addressed the conference in the light of the theme.

Konstanatios Syriopuoulos and Dr. Ahmed Rahman Songip were the keynote speakers who discussed new innovative ways of management in terms of organizational and digital transformation, credit spread and bonds.

CEO Imarat group and Garana.com, Shafiq Akbar discussed real estate potential and digital transformation in Pakistan. He also opined that human resource and real estate are the aspects that can benefit Pakistan in progress that he said possible by making the investment as a part of economic activity. He also pointed out trapped investment in real estate and its negative impact. He suggested that digitization of the real estate sector through regulation is the need of the hour.

Advisor HEC, Awais Ahmed said that incubation centers in the Pakistani universities have true capacity to be utilized. He added that digital transformation is an urgent need in the sector of business management. He also talked about initiatives of HEC including E books, smart class rooms, digital library, educational TV and online education.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIU addressing the inaugural session said that the business management graduates must be the job providers instead of job seekers. He stressed that entrepreneurship must be promoted among the youth. He also urged women to come forward in entrepreneurship.

Dr. Masoom added that the business world is witnessing tremendous shifts due to emerging trends in technology. He opined that no business can survive presently without Digital transformation. He also added that everybody should acquire the latest technological skills for capacity building.

Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President (Academics), lauded conference organizers for choosing the theme of the conference. He said that the conference is a vibrant attempt to bring together academicians, research scholars, policymakers, and industrial experts for collaborative research and experience sharing. Earlier, chair of the conference and Dean FMS, Dr. Abdul Rahman Dean FMS apprised of the objectives of the conference. He discussed Digital transformation, resistance to change and other themes of the conference.
