Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Pays Homage to Literary Luminary Patras Bukhari


Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted a tribute to celebrate the legacy of Syed Ahmed Shah Patras Bukhari, a prominent figure in Urdu literature, broadcasting, and diplomacy. The event, which took place at the Haseena Moin Hall, was presided over by the poetess Zehra Nigah, with the presence of Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah.



Arshad Mahmood, a veteran actor and music composer, led the event as host, engaging in an insightful conversation with Ayaz Bukhari. Their dialogue shed light on the multifaceted life and contributions of Patras Bukhari. The tribute also featured video messages from notable literary figures such as Zia Mohyeddin and Iftikhar Arif.



A highlight of the evening was a theatrical performance titled “Cinema Ka Ishq,” performed by artists Faraz Chuttani and Hamza Ranjha, which entertained the audience with humor and skill.



The event attracted a large gathering of literary and arts personalities. In her address, Zehra Nigah expressed her reflections on the past, noting the importance of cherishing and passing down cultural memories to future generations.



Ayaz Bukhari shared personal insights into Patras Bukhari’s heritage, recounting his ancestral roots in Bukhara and the multilingual environment of his household. He also mentioned the Arts Council’s open-air theatre named after Z.A. Bukhari, Patras Bukhari’s brother. Ayaz expressed gratitude to Ahmed Shah for organizing the event and highlighted his dedication to preserving Patras Bukhari’s legacy through a website created two decades ago.
