Islamabad, April 29, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Center for Strategic Perspectives at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) organized an in-house session with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan Markian Chichuk. Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan Markian Chuchuk discussed bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ukraine and regional developments.
The internal meeting was chaired by Amb. Sohail Mehmood, Director General, ISSI. Participants include: Major General (retd) Nader Khan, Ambassador-designate to Ukraine; Former Ambassador Fauzia Nasreen; Ambassador (retd) Nadeem Riaz, President, IRS; Major General Athar Abbas (retd), former Ambassador of Pakistan to Ukraine; Dr. Tughral Yameen, Senior Research Fellow, IPS; Dr. Farah Naz, Assistant Professor, NUST; Dr. Adil Sultan, Air University; Mr. Asadullah Khan, Senior Research Fellow, CASS; Mr. Joshua Arthur, AD, Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Neelam Nagar, Director CSP, and members of the research team were also present.
The discussion focused on the state of Pakistan-Ukraine relations, which are long-standing, friendly and growing in depth and breadth. On the evolving situation since February 24, 2022, the security and economic implications of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, prospects for a political settlement, China’s potential role as a peace negotiator and other relevant aspects were discussed, after which Ambassador Markian Chichuk spoke. The participants expressed their views, reviews and suggestions. Ambassador Khalid Mehmood, Chairman ISSI gave the closing remarks.
