Aleem Dar Announces Retirement After Distinguished Umpiring Career

Lahore: Aleem Dar, one of the world’s most esteemed cricket umpires, has announced his retirement at the conclusion of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s 2024-25 season. Dar’s career, which includes three David Shepherd Trophy wins and service on the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, will end after nearly 25 years in the field.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Aleem Dar’s umpiring career features an impressive tally of over 400 international matches, including a record 145 Tests. His tenure on the ICC Elite Panel from 2003 to 2023 highlighted his skills in player management and decision-making, earning him a reputation for his calm and authoritative presence on the field.

Dar, 56, also reflected on his career, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and experiences that umpiring has provided him. He emphasized his readiness to focus on charitable endeavors, particularly his hospital project. Dar affirmed his commitment to supporting upcoming umpires, underscoring his desire to contribute to their development even after his retirement.
