Match Officials for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group Stages Announced

Sharjah: Claire Polosak and Lauren Agenbag will be the on-field umpires as Bangladesh and Scotland kick off the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Sharjah. The tournament begins on October 3 with a double-header that also features Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Sue Redfern is set to serve as the TV umpire for the opening match, while GS Lakshmi has been named as the match referee.

According to International Cricket Council, the match referee and umpires have been finalized for all group stage matches of the ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. This includes notable appointments such as Kim Cotton and Eloise Sheridan overseeing the Pakistan and Sri Lanka match, and Sheridan and Agenbag officiating the high-profile India versus Pakistan game at Dubai International Stadium on October 6.

The tournament promises intense competition with Australia defending their title starting October 5 against Sri Lanka, where Redfern and Anna Harris will umpire. Australia, as the most successful team in the history of the tournament, aims for their seventh title. Other key matches include New Zealand against Australia on October 9 with Vrinda Rathi and Redfern officiating, and a significant encounter between India and Australia on October 13, overseen by Agenbag and Polosak at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The group stage will conclude with a crucial match between England and the West Indies, with Sheridan and Sarah Dambanevana as the on-field umpires. The appointments for the semi-finals and the final match of the tournament will be announced at a later date.
