Lahore School Recognized for Outstanding Carton Recycling Efforts

Karachi: Tetra Pak Pakistan and WWF-Pakistan have commended Crescent Model Girls High School in Lahore for its exemplary efforts in recycling used beverage cartons. Under the joint Recycling Awareness Project, the school collected 173 kg of used beverage cartons, earning it the title of Central Region winner and furniture made from recycled Tetra Pak cartons.

According to WWF-Pakistan, the recognition was celebrated at a ceremony held on October 29, 2026, featuring a ribbon-cutting for the awarded furniture, a quiz with Tetra Pak's mascot, and a mime performance on water conservation. The project, supported by Tetra Pak Pakistan, aims to instill sustainable practices in students through sessions and competitions across various cities since 2017, engaging 47 schools in total.

Muhammad Bin Shahzad, Tetra Pak Pakistan's Sustainability Manager, emphasized the role of students as current change makers and future leaders, highlighting the initiative's impact on promoting responsible environmental decisions. Hammad Naqi Khan, Director General of WWF-Pakistan, reiterated the importance of transforming awareness into responsibility, praising the school's proactive approach.

The initiative, part of WWF-Pakistan's Environmental Education Department, seeks to integrate environmental consciousness into the educational framework, urging students to actively participate in waste reduction and recycling. As global waste is projected to increase significantly, projects like these aim to foster a circular economy, reducing material waste and regenerating nature.
