Lahore: Pakistan's Haris Rauf has received an official reprimand and a fine of 20 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ODI against England held in Lahore on Sunday.
According to International Cricket Council, Rauf was found in violation of Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to displaying conduct unsuitable to the spirit of the game. The incident occurred at the end of the 46th over of Pakistan's innings when Rauf, positioned at the non-striker's end, engaged in an argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks over a wide appeal. Despite a warning from the umpire, Rauf continued the exchange and brushed past the umpire. This led to the addition of one demerit point to his record, raising his total to five demerit points for his third offence in a 24-month period.
In related disciplinary actions, the England team has been penalized 15 per cent of their match fee for failing to meet the required over-rate, falling short by three overs. Under Article 2.22, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for each over their side fails to bowl within the allocated time.
Both Rauf and England captain Harry Brook accepted the charges and sanctions proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, avoiding the need for formal hearings. The charges were brought by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula, along with third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.
The disciplinary measures followed a closely contested match, where Pakistan triumphed over England by one wicket. Shadab Khan's unbeaten century, along with Rauf's contribution in an 89-run partnership, led Pakistan to victory and secured their place in the ODI tri-series final against Sri Lanka on 31 October.
