JOHANNESBURG: Marco Jansen and Abhishek Sharma have ascended to the pinnacle of their respective cricketing disciplines, marking a notable shift in the latest ICC Men's Player Rankings. Jansen, representing South Africa, has achieved the No. 1 position as both a Test bowler and all-rounder, while India's Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed his status as the leading T20I batter.

According to International Cricket Council, Jansen's rise comes after an impressive performance against Australia in the ICC World Test Championship in Gqeberha. The 26-year-old contributed significantly with 85 runs and a crucial five-wicket haul, leading to advancements in multiple ranking categories. He surpassed Australia's Mitchell Starc to become the top Test bowler and dethroned India's Ravindra Jadeja to become the leading Test all-rounder. Jadeja had maintained the top spot for over four years.

Abhishek Sharma's return to the top of the T20I batter rankings follows his explosive century against New Zealand in Wellington. His 113-run performance in just 38 balls helped India secure a series victory, enabling him to overtake teammate Ishan Kishan, who had held the position since July.

Other notable movements in the rankings include South Africa's Temba Bavuma, who climbed to second place among Test batters after his 179-run innings against Australia. England's Harry Brook remains the only player ahead of Bavuma. Additionally, Australia's Scott Boland and South Africa's Simon Harmer have improved their standings in the Test bowler and all-rounder categories, respectively.

In the T20I rankings, India's Sanju Samson and New Zealand's Finn Allen have also made gains among batters, while Mitchell Santner and Arshdeep Singh climbed the rankings among T20I bowlers. Meanwhile, the ODI rankings saw advancements for players like Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and several bowlers, including Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai. Veteran Mohammad Nabi also improved his position among ODI all-rounders.

These changes in the rankings reflect a dynamic week in international cricket, highlighting significant performances and shifts among top players.
