Lahore: Unbeaten Pakistan is set to face Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the ODI tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday. Pakistan, having already secured a spot in the final, aims to maintain its winning streak against Sri Lanka, which it previously defeated by 37 runs in this series.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan has played three matches in the tri-series, emerging victorious in all, including two wins over England and one against Sri Lanka. The team has been bolstered by the performances of Salman Ali Agha, who scored 107 in the last match against Sri Lanka, and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has taken seven wickets in the tournament so far. Afridi, recently achieving the milestone of 150 ODI wickets, continues to be a pivotal figure with 20 wickets in seven ODIs at Gaddafi Stadium.
This encounter marks the 162nd ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with Pakistan leading the head-to-head tally with 97 wins. On the back of a thrilling one-wicket win over England, where Shadab Khan scored an unbeaten 113, Pakistan looks to extend its dominance. Shadab, alongside Haris Rauf, who contributed to the memorable win, emphasized the belief and confidence within the team.
The updated Pakistan squad for the series includes prominent players such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Shadab Khan, as they prepare for the upcoming matches and the final on October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium.
