Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Meets Pakistani President to Bolster Bilateral Ties

Islamabad: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss enhancing cooperation across various sectors including trade, investment, and security. President Zardari emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations with Bahrain and expressed Pakistan's eagerness to deepen economic and strategic partnerships.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the meeting between Dr. Al-Zayani and President Zardari took place as part of the 3rd Session of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC). The discussions began with a restricted meeting followed by a delegation-level session. President Zardari highlighted opportunities for collaboration in fields such as food security, IT, construction, and healthcare, while appreciating Bahrain's acknowledgment of Pakistan's regional peace efforts through agreements like the Islamabad MoU and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

President Zardari reiterated Pakistan's commitment to a trusted defence partnership with Bahrain, citing joint exercises and institutional cooperation. He also expressed gratitude for Bahrain's support of the Pakistani diaspora and welcomed continued collaboration on diaspora-related matters. Dr. Al-Zayani conveyed greetings from Bahrain's leadership and praised Pakistan's efforts in regional mediation and peace-building. He also acknowledged the productive outcomes of the Pakistan-Bahrain JMC meetings and the positive impact of President Zardari's visit to Bahrain on bilateral ties.

The delegation-level meeting included senior officials from both countries, with discussions covering a wide range of areas aimed at enhancing cooperation and fostering stronger bilateral relations.
