Islamabad: Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, has stated that national security is paramount and emphasized that there can be no compromise on the security of the country. He further indicated that dialogue is not feasible with those who align with the language of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but openness to dialogue remains if the language of terrorism is abandoned.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Bukhari criticized the negotiating team arranged by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), noting that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa dismissed the team as powerless, raising concerns about the sincerity of the dialogue process. Bukhari highlighted that conflict, unrest, and political division have been detrimental to Pakistan and its citizens, and mentioned that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rejected disruptive politics. He questioned the absence of public issues such as inflation and unemployment from the long march agenda.
Bukhari pointed out that despite claims of gathering 4 million people, the turnout was significantly lower, with fewer than 40,000 participants. He also noted the rise of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while criticizing the provincial government's focus on a political leader's release and treatment over governance. He emphasized that the priority should be on peace and protecting citizens rather than personal interests, as citizens continue to suffer from terrorism.
Bukhari acknowledged Maulana Fazlur Rehman's remarks about the mandate being taken away in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and noted that the Leader of the Opposition in the province is from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F). He also highlighted the respectful relationships Maulana Fazlur Rehman maintains with President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
