Sadaf Shamas Replaces Injured Najiha Alvi in Pakistan Squad for Women’s Asia Cup

Lahore: Wicketkeeper-batter Najiha Alvi has been excluded from Pakistan's squad for the upcoming ACC Women's T20 Asia Cup due to an injury, with right-handed batter Sadaf Shamas named as her replacement. Najiha experienced pain in her posterior left knee, and subsequent scans revealed a possible sprain.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, following an assessment by the PCB's medical team, Najiha is set to begin a rehabilitation program immediately, which is expected to last up to four weeks. In response, the national women's selection committee included Sadaf in the Asia Cup squad. Sadaf has participated in 12 WT20Is since her debut in January 2023.

The ACC Women's T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Dubai from August 28 to September 13, with Pakistan competing in Group A alongside India, Thailand, and Hong Kong, China.
