Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized a Kashmir Solidarity Walk to commemorate Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, demonstrating support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, saw participation from university officials, faculty, staff, and a significant number of students, including Kashmiri students.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, participants carried national flags of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, chanting slogans advocating for the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination. The gathering highlighted solidarity with Kashmir and condemned human rights violations, with banners and placards emphasizing these messages.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir stated that the day serves as a reminder of the actions taken on August 5, 2019, when India's revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status deprived its people of fundamental rights. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination, emphasizing the importance of political, diplomatic, and moral support.

Prof. Dr. Munir stressed the importance of national unity, education, research, and technological self-reliance for Pakistan's strength. He noted that Kashmir remains an unresolved issue from the Partition of the Subcontinent and emphasized the need for unity and knowledge in the progress of the Muslim Ummah. He concluded with a pledge of solidarity from the people of Pakistan in support of Kashmir's struggle for freedom.

Participants of the walk reiterated their solidarity with the Kashmiri people, emphasizing that the Kashmir issue is a significant matter for Pakistan, beyond being a territorial dispute.
