HBL PSL Governing Council Welcomes New Franchises and Discusses Future Plans

Lahore: The Governing Council of the HBL Pakistan Super League convened at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Friday evening to discuss important league matters. The meeting, chaired by Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi, included representatives from all eight HBL PSL franchises, along with officials from the PCB and PSL. Key topics included the introduction of new teams and the schedule for the upcoming season.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the meeting began with a formal welcome for the new team owners of Sialkot and Hyderabad, marking their entry into the HBL PSL family. The Chairman and the PSL team were also acknowledged for the successful execution of the New Teams Auction, which signifies the league’s expansion. Discussions covered the schedule for HBL PSL 11, player retention strategies, and the potential adoption of a ‘drauction’ model—a hybrid of auction and draft—for player acquisition. The start date for HBL PSL 11 was set for Thursday, 26 March, signaling the league’s new era.

The meeting concluded with the establishment of a working group tasked with further exploring the agenda items. The group is scheduled to meet on Saturday, with a reconvening of the Governing Council planned as necessary.
