LAHORE: Punjab University (PU) and the Shahid Javed Burki Institute of Public Policy at NUST (BIPP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to install a solar power system at the university and support student scholarships. The collaboration is set to enhance sustainable energy solutions and provide educational opportunities for students.
According to University of the Punjab, the MoU signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, attended by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Chairman BIPP Mr. Shahid Javed Burki, and other senior officials. Under the agreement, BIPP will donate USD 40,000 to fund the solar energy system’s installation. The savings generated through net metering will be used to support scholarships under the SJB Scholarship Fund for 25 years. Punjab University will ensure the project’s transparent implementation, regularly updating BIPP on the academic progress of scholarship recipients and acknowledging the contribution on the university’s donor wall. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali highlighted the significance of this agreement in promoting a clean environment and praised BIPP for its contributions to sustainability and educational development.
