Karachi: President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, inaugurated an exhibition featuring the works of renowned painter G.N. Qazi at the Art Citi Gallery. The exhibition, titled “Mohabbat Ki Sada” (The Call of Love), was attended by several notable figures, including Chairperson Arts Council Women Empowerment Committee Chand Gul Shah, prominent painter Shahid Rassam, and Tanweer Farooqi, along with numerous artists and art enthusiasts.
The exhibition showcases 21 artworks curated by F.S. Karachi Wala, all inspired by the theme of Sufism. G.N. Qazi’s pieces vividly portray the shrine of the Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, offering reflections on spiritual depth and cultural heritage.
Speaking at the event, Muhammad Ahmed Shah noted the significance of Art Citi as a space that genuinely supports artists. He praised G.N. Qazi for capturing the spiritual essence of Sindh’s historic architecture, highlighting the use of blue tones over red flowers that bring the compositions closer to nature.
Shah mentioned that the artist’s work reflects a disturbance with modern societal contradictions, aiming to depict a time symbolizing peace and love. He pointed out the inclusion of flowers and bells, which represent shared cultural traditions found in Sufi shrines and Hindu temples.
In his remarks, Shah congratulated the artist and mentioned the Arts Council’s efforts to maintain active galleries. He also announced upcoming events, including the 18th Aalmi Urdu Conference starting December 25, which will feature two art exhibitions.
The exhibition, which opened on December 23, is set to run until December 27, 2025, at the Art City Gallery.
